I'm discussing the 5.56s effectiveness against the 7.62x39. I need it's armor piercing abilitys mostly. I had heard of people shooting at targets with large caliber rifles, and also including the AK round as well as 7.62N with the 5.56 slipping through the armored targets and the larger rounds not making it. Anyone know where I can get some info?

Any rifle round going faster than 2000fps will likely penetrate amor.

From personal experience I'll comment that M193 will not penetrate 5/16" genuine armor plate at 50 & 100 yds...leaves a dimple tho'......1/4" mild steel, yes, penetrates well
