I'm new and I tried to search but didn't see too much on this ammo. I will be varmint hunting a lot out to 300 yards with my Oly arms 16" .I  have used this ammo in my .17 hmr and it shot Great ! Just wondering how accurate this ammo is, and will I have any problems with 300 yards and this gun ? Sorry if this was posted somewhere and I didn't see it.

For coyote or smaller varmints, suspect you may get some use outta the V-Max Hornady ammo.

FWIW, the 55 & 60 grn versions shot faily well in my M4 rifles, however as all rifles are different YOU'LL have to try it in YOUR rifle to see if it groups well enough for your purposes.

Note: the V-Max does not penetrate very well so stick to "small" varmints.

I've had very good results with both the V-max and the Ballistic Tip bullets.  They are good prarie dog bullets and generally shoot well at the closer ranges.  Past 500 yards they don't seem to do as well.

I'm sorry when I say varmint I mean to say groundhog. I know some of you are lucky to have multiple varmints to hunt.

I'm sorry when I say varmint I mean to say groundhog. I know some of you are lucky to have multiple varmints to hunt. So shooting groundhogs at say 300 or so yards should yield good results with my combo ?

There isn't a finer varmint round for the $$ than the V-max.

I've found them to be incredibly accurate, and devastating to hogs. I use a 40 grain for my 200 yard load (max I shoot at in my fields), and unless I miss the hogs fall dead or explode.

It's not difficult for me to get .375" 5-shot groups with the Vmax in front of Varget in Norma cases.
