Q3131A IS M193. I would imagine that chart is just using the default "spec" of M193, vs actual data from Q3131A. Variances off spec, lot to lot, will make that difference. I wouldn't draw too many assumptions from it. |

From what I understand, Q3131/a is M-193, just as is XM-193. The Q3131a was made in Israel for Winchester, though it's now made here as Q3131. The main difference I recall reading about here is that the Q3131a uses a flash retardent in the powder that reduces muzzle flash. As a result, Federal ("USGI") XM-193 has more muzzle blast, but also a slightly higher muzzle velocity.

Q3131A seems to have slightly higher muzzle velocity, but the difference in fragmentation range probably came from its ballistic coefficient; typical M193 is supposed to have a BC of .243, while Winchester listed their Q3131A having a BC of .267. So, Q3131A should lose velocity slower than typical M193 does, which extends the frag range a bit.
(this is of course assuming what Winchester listed on their website is correct) |
