I was at a gun store today and I saw some 50 round boxes of ammo marked '5.56'.

The store owner did not know who made them.

I look at the brass but could not determine a maker on it. It looked like the date on the brass was from 93.

Could be wrong.

Anybody else seeing ammo like this? It was about 4 dollars for 50 rounds.

Brown boxes, 55 grain FMJ

Thanks

Yeah a small cardbord carton/box.

It was roughly4-5 dollars a box IIRC.

No markings except '5.56'

I was told it was 50 rounds per box but did not actually look and verify. I looked at the top layer of ammo and that was it.

Does it have a BMP stamped on the cartridge, and packed in thin cardboard?  If they have the BMP stamped on the cartridge, chances are they're made by Government Arsenal, Republic of the Philippines www.arsenal.mil.ph.  Get them, they're good.

If it looks, sounds or anything else too good to be true, it probably is!  It's a crap shoot to buy unidentified ammo, possibly no name reloads, maybe you should ask yourself this question, how much is a blown up AR worth?

That is exactly why I did not buy it BUT I may have to go back and check it out again.

It will be awhile before I can shoot my AR anyhow.

It might be actually.

I will check again if I get the chance.

Thanks

No the boxes for the Phillipine military ammo are not the same.

This stuff was marked with a small white sticker on the box saying '5.56' and that was it.
