Today a wonderful young lady I work with asked me if I wanted some ammo, her boyfriend had to get it out of his mother's house and he knew I might be interested.  This was some he inherited about 10+ years ago, all in perfect condition.  I'd given him some Winchester Ranger 9mm and .40 S&W before and  he was glad to return the favor.

It consisted of a smattering of 30 06, some 380, 38 special, 45 auto, but of more significance about 2000+ rounds of yellow box Norinco 223 Remington (head stamp C J 4), a full case of 1000 Q3131 (head stamp WCC 88), and at least 2000 rounds of American Eagle 223 55 grain boat-tail (head stamp 223 REM FC) and 1500 plus rounds of UMC .308 150 grain metal case (head stamp 308 WIN RP) as well as a heck of a lot of 7.62X39, some Chinese and some Arabic I'd guess by the writing on the boxes.  A couple of 30 rd Okay magazines were in the lot also, along with at least 1 magazine I didn't even recognize (30 06 I believe).
Most of this was packed away in 50 cal ammo boxes, the Q3131 was still sealed in it's case with a $109.95 price tag (remember those days) on the side.

Overall, for a Monday at work it was a pretty good day!

Not if you have kids and raise 'em right

Either way if I kick off before my ammo does, I'd be honored for my next of kin to just give it away to arfcom if they hadn't use of it.

Better to give it to people who will get some good use out of it than turn it in at the cop shop or something.

edwin,  have you ever thought of moving to PA, especially the Philly area?

Think about it, I would hate to have to have you shoot all that ammo all by yourself that would be a horrible thing for a fellow ARFComer to let happen to another.  We need to help each other out and I just want to let you know that I am here for you

I'll bite, tell me about that rifle of yours...I am guessing:

Larue Tactical Forend
Larue Tactical scope mount of some sort
Smith Enterprise Vortex
Hogue Grip
Magpul Ranger Plate

Tell me about the stock, scope, bipod, barrel and any other cool options (ie; everything else).

Btw, I very much approve of the Larue stuff, the Ranger Plates, and Vortex, etc.  I may have to literally imitate your build, as I like it so much!

And I thought  that $109.95 for 1000 rounds of Q3131 was a great deal.

I wish it was that cheap again I would buy 5000 rounds!

It's a very nice rifle, Grant at G&R built the upper, a Bravo Company MOS 4150 1/7 chrome lined 20" government profile barrel with M4 ramps in a CMT M4 upper with LT low profile gas block, with a LT 13.2 rail and Vortex flash hider. It has a M16 carrier and a LMT enhanced bolt.

The lower is a RRA "US PROPERTY" marked model from Pete at Legal Transfers, with the RRA 2-stage trigger, RRA Hogue grip, LMT buffer tube and Sopmod stock, a Stag ambi safety and Norgon ambi mag release (I'm a lefty with a rifle).

For sighting I have the Troy flip up front sight, a KAC 600m rear, and a Nightforce NSX 3.5-15X50 (will killflash ARD not in the photo) mounted in a LT SPR-E mount.
My primary sight for this rifle is a TA31F (with Killflash ARD) mounted in a LT ACOG mount but it's great fun at the range with the NSX.

I have the GG&G bipod (trimmer and lighter than the Harris/ARMS combo), KAC rail covers, CMT charging handle with PRI big latch, and KAC rear and MI front QD sling mounts.

When I put together all these pieces it was for a high muzzle velocity blaster with maximum fragmentation range with 75/77 grain ammo, but I've been very pleased with it's accuracy which is usually MOA or less with BH 75 grain OTM.
With the gov prof barrel, it's not particularly heavy, roughly 8.5 lbs with the ACOG , no bipod, and an empty 20 round magazine.  The NSX adds considerably more weight, but it balances very well, and for a sling I usually use a Bushmaster  "M-60" sling which is very comfortable.

Damn.... if i were ever in a position where i was living with my mom, and she said i had to get rid of that much ammo.....

..I would 1. Rent a storage unit or find a friend to hold it.

OR 2. Sell it and use the funds to get my own apartment..... there is enough there to do it.

BUT, I would never advise someone of those things if he had the intention of giving the stuff to me.

You have just proven that it is possible to a) hate a person you've never met, b) envy him enormously, c) wonder if this person you hate will still "do you a favor" and d) wonder at what's still stashed in some people's garages and basements, all at the same time.

Enjoy!

P.S. if you want to get rid of some of that .30-06, let me know...

along with at least 1 magazine I didn't even recognize (30 06 I believe).

Sure it was a 30-06 magazine, and not 308? Musta been for a BAR or something... does anyone else know what used 30-06 in a mag?

Might be a collector's item. Git some reeel good money for it.
