I bought some cheap tracer ammo, and on the box it had bold letters saying, "Do not use this ammo in fluted barrels".

Why? Is that the case with all tracer ammo, or is this stuff just funky?

Less material, they may not handle the extra heat as well?

I didn't think tracers got hot until after they existed the barrel, since the materal (phosphorous I believe) is air reactive.

Somebody pulling your chain....

I shoot tracer out of a factory COLT  20"  1x7  Gov't profile barrel,  a 11.5" bull barrel, and 7.5" bull barrel.

I shoot it out of my POF with 16" fluted barrel with no problems....
