I just picked up a battle pack of 400 of "FNM 84-25" headstamped m193type stuff.
Anyone have info about this stuff?-whether its corrosive, or underpowered, or has reliability problems?
I searched, but I havent archive search powers yet, my membershiphasnt been activated yet.

The guy at a gun show said it was Portuguese.

thanks in advance

FNM is commercial ammo made in Portugal. I don't know about their M-193, but I have shot some 7.62x25 and 7.5x55 FNM and both have been excellent ammo made with quality components. The ammo has also been very consistant and accurate. From my experience they seem to have their ammo loaded to commercial specs. Velocities have been about 100fps below mil-spec in the two calibers I have shot.  All FNM I have seen is non-corrosive. The new stuff is boxer primed but not sure about any of the old stuff

hey, thanks very much, I think I paid 60 or 70 for 400 rounds.
hope that was decent.

It must be pretty good, if it anything like FNM's M2 ball-spec 30-06.

I still have a few boxes of FNM 87-09 that came in a green battle pack. 40 rds per box and, IIRC, 10 boxes per pack. Great ammo. Full power  M193 in every respect. Absolutely non-corrosive.

I want to second the remarks about the commercial FNM. The 7.62X25 I've used has been excellent. I'm also glad to hear the same about the 30-06. The LC and Greek isn't going to last forever.

Is the FNM stuff available for sale anywhere?

i have a few battlepacks of the FNM SS109 ammo. its excellent. i would call it an M855 clone. it was noticeable hotter than other foriegn SS109s. i didnt know they made an M193 i just sort of assumed that portugal went from 762 to SS109 with NATO.

got a source for this stuff?

Great stuff. The bullets do have a steel jacket (not core) though.

Sounds like a pretty good price and I don't think .308 is ever going to get cheaper.

I have bought the FMN in 7.63x25mm and it shot well. Caveat, some of the loads seemes to burn unevenly, I need to chronograph it. (Personally I was happy to find any Broomhandle ammo.)

Just an FYI (Link):

It's all the same stuff. Wolf Gold, FNM, Prvi Partizan. All made by Prvi in Serbia/yugoslavia. Prvi makes good ammo. They are the source of Grafs and some of Hornady's brass casings. There is alot of '70s 8mm yugo milsurp ammo out right now made by them, it is good stuff. I shoot FNM 6.5 Swedish out of my Swede mausers and it is great stuff. It is made in Serbia by Prvi IIRC.

It's still very good ammo but it is contracted out to Prvi.

Interesting, now I know why it's such good stuff. I have the same stuff as the second picture of that thread.

Prvi Partisan 7.5 Swiss is almost as good as the surplus! That really says a lot in my book

Where can I get the M193 or M855 Prvi?

I found my 30-06 in a funshow.  I've never seen it for sale in any gun shop in the Dayton area.

ETA: Big +1 on Prvi Partizan.  I've only shot their 30-06, but it was very high quality ammo.  Those Serbians know how to do guns and ammo.
