I was wondering how many of you use the cheap wolf ammo, and if anyone has problems, or if there is another cheap alternative with brass instead?  Thanks in advance for your replies and help.

Use wolf... 1000 rds under 110 bucks, cheapest practice stuff out there.

I use wolf for blasting and short range work. Georgia Arms Canned Heat is the best deal on brass ammo at $150 per 1k. Otherwise, the next step is surplus or Walmart White Box Winchester ammo at around $200 per 1k (the surplus cost is rising, though).

+1 on the vote for Georgia Arms.

Good plinking ammo though not suitable for any attempt at accuracy.....at least IMO.

Last time I ordered, orders over $500 had free shipping.

I've had good luck and decent accuracy with the Malaysian 55g stuff. Some people have had primers pop out and fall into the lower, but over 1k and not a problem.

Personally... Wolf is shit.

For plinking, I use Federal.

For accuracy, I use Black Hills.

To each his own.

P.S. I've never had a Federal or Black Hills jam up on me... EVER.

I also have had great luck with Wolf .223.  I just bought 1000 rds the other day, and I have to say that when comparing any 20 rounds of wolf with 20 rounds of XM193, it quickly becomes apparent that the Wolf ammo is well made.

Another great option for plinking is Remington UMC, which can be bought at your local Wal-Mart for less than $4.00 a box.

See signature line about Wolf.  My carbine won't run it reliably.  It tears the rim off the case every 10 rounds or so.  Same thing with South African.  Mind you my chamber is sparkling clean.  Personally I reload my own plinking ammo.  It can be loaded for about 14 cents per round using once fired Winchester brass and Hornady bullets.  More accurate than surplus and just as cheap.  I really like Black Hills or my 75 gr. match rounds when utmost accuracy is needed.  MJD

Buy a few boxes of wolf and run it through your rifle and see. I have heard of some people who's rifle didn't like it, but most people's shoot it fine.
If your rifle does O.K. with it, buy a 1000 rounds and don't look back.

I use Remington UMC and Win. white-box (both 55gr).  In fact, that's all I've really ran through my AR!
I'll try a box or two of black hills sometime though.  But to me, it seems I have much room to improve with the cheap 55gr. stuff.  Especially since most of my shooting has been 100yrds. max.

I really like WWB , and federal's stuff. I choose not to use wolf in my ar15 , nor will i ever. Why? I just don't like the idea of steel ammo in my ar15 , i'd prefer to shoot the brass, save it for reloading. That way when i get alot stocked up , i can load it and get about 1/4" groups.

Wolf is the only ammo that my bushy has had any trouble with and not that much. 3 FTE's in about 2000 rouds of it. That said I dont like dicking around with even that rate of failure so I use PMC and federal now. Don't know if it's any better but it runs in my gun better. Hard to beat that wolf price but after a 30 round mag dump I can't even see the target

You won't get .5" groups with it, but w/ iron sights @100 yards rapid fire it all pretty much stays in the black for me

I use Wolf exclusively for plinking.  I have bought more than I can remember and only had one documented issue.  My AR ripped a rim off once during extraction.  Only malfunction I have ever had though, out of thousands of rounds.

I agree. Although to add, AE223 stuff is supposedly good, but I haven't tried it yet.

And anymore, with relation to XM193, Black Hills Blue Box 55gr FMJ is the same price.

My Yanks (AR-15, M1 Carbine and M1 Garand) get FAE.
My Ruskies (VEPR-K, SKS, Mosin) get Wolf.

All are happy, and so am I.

WWB and Black Hills blue. I don't buy Wolf because I reload. WWB and BHBB is great ammo and has good brass to reload!

I bought a case of the IMI .223 REM and I'm about half way through it. Seems to be pretty good stuff so far. An alternative to Wolf, but still more expensive. I run Wolf too, but doesn't run 100% in my SBR.

Same here. For the money it can't be beat. All my guns, pistols rifles and MGs digest it in all calibers with no problems.
