Up untill recently, The Major had 75 gr. hornady ammo for $300/1k rounds. I emailed him and he told me that the deal with hornady went south and is no more
 . Do any of you guys here know where I can get some bugdet heavier, match ammo?

Not that I have ever seen. Buy the blue box with confidence. It is accurate and extremely reliable; I see no reason to buy the red box. |

If I'm not mistaken, red box uses new brass. I use blue box for the range, red box is for zombies. |

Does used brass effect accuracy?
ar-jedi, the archive doesn't work for me because I'm not a paying member. Is there a post about this? I'd like to see it. |

I believe most of competition shooters reload their ammo w/ used brass.
Though I'm not sure how much they do on reconditioning the fired brass. |

fired brass:
tumble, lube, full length size, tumble, trim, load. When the primer pockets get really dirty, clean them. 9-12 loadings for .223 brass is not uncommon. The brass usually fails to a case neck crack first. I get my brass by buying BHBB for short line practice and reload the empties. BHBB is great ammo at a decent price. Red box uses BHA Match case, which is winchester brass with a black hills headstamp. Don't count on the Major selling anymore ammo. Rumor has it that he has his fork truck for sale. Bad sign. |

AR_Clint, I had contacted him about an order when he was trying to renew his contract with Hornady. He said that Hornady could NOT get their hands on any used brass what-so-ever. I think his exact quote was "Hornady has told me that there is no used brass available on the market he So...the contract with Hornady is now done for. He also told me how he had tried his ammo loaded with steel cases. He also stated that it shot great but had to recall the entire lot due to unexpected pressure spikes. I just think that Hornady was tired of the Major selling better ammo then they could sell for the price. 1000 rounds of very accurate 75gr Hornady match for $285.00 + S/H was hard to beat. |
