Just wondering.  I thought I saw it in a larger quantity packed differently at a gun show recently.

I've bought it in the OD weather proof plastic packs.

Those are the 140rnd packs I mentioned.  I was wondering if they came in a larger plastic tub with more than 7 X 140rnd plastic battle packs.  I'm probably thinking of the 5.56mm ammo.

S.A. comes in the tubs, 10 battle packs per if I remember right.

I recently bought the 980 rounds (7x140rds) box from AIMSurplus at $180 shipped.  I have also seen the 1260 round (9x140rds) in the same box.  My local gun shop has those for $252.

the cans come with 10 BPs i believe. but AIM drops them down to 7 to avoid a steep increase in shipping.

Tubs come w/ (9) 140rd BP for a total of 1,260 rounds.

Thanks guys.  That's exactly what I saw at a local gun show.

I ordered the Aimsurplus for $170 shipped which comes to 17.3 cents per round.

That's cheaper than the gun show tub which comes to $252/1260 = 20 cents per round.

I wasn't planning on buying any .308 when I went, so I hadn't looked up the prices.  I'm glad I didn't buy it at the show.  I did find some of the brass-cased 7.62X39 Portugese for $120/1000 and should have gotten it since I can't find it any cheaper.  Oh well.

On a side note, I paid $33 for freight on the AIM stuff, which puts it at .1836 cents/round.  Locally, the $252 is plus 18.90 in tax, making that .215 cents/round.

Ouch!  Taxes get you every time.  We don't have sales or income tax in NH, but we do have high property taxes.  One way or another they get you.

You'd think the local gun store could get it to you cheaper, assuming they buy in bulk.

I'm not complaining.  I don't mind having AIM ship it to my door and I give my favorite gun store a lot of business anyway.
