Some Blackhills 68/69 or 75/77 grain blue box and/or red box.  I would plink with Wolf or whatever else I could find.

Federal American Eagle 55 gr FMJ.

I use some of the heavy match stuff, but even the reman is too expensive to stock in a large quantity. So if I was limited to commercial ammo for my main stockpile (not specialty ammo), then American Eagle would be what I'd buy in bulk.

Well let me turn it around on you then.  If you've read the Oracle, and are
planning on stocking in any quantity at all, why would you NOT buy milspec ammo?

That's true.  I've made the same search as you, but I always keep coming back
to milspec simply because of the price.

I was just curious. Be interesting to see what you find out, but I suspect
if money is an issue at all you'll find a dead end. I did anyway

+1,000,000 on anything Black Hills produced, in any caliber, blue or red box.

As originally asked by ops144:  if ya couldnt get mill spec ammo what would ya buy?

Black Hills.

And to boot, the question was posted in the AR15-Ammunition Forum.

(I've learned to read more carefully lately...)
