Black Hills?

Federal American Eagle?

Winchester white box (not Q3131A)?

UMC?

PMC?

Something else?

Just curious who has chronoed any of this ammo and what your results were.

Haven't chronoed any, but the IMI .223 is pretty hot.  According to Wideners it's about 100 fps off of XM193 IIRC.

I fired a few rounds yesterday, and the primers were moderately flattened.  Not like XM193, but more so than commercial .223 ammo.

I'd have to agree.. the IMI .223 is nice hot ammo, more so than anything else I've tried

Thanks guys. I'm trying to create a list of sorts with this kind of data. I had never tested any commercial loads for velocity, so I was just curious which ones were pretty hot and which were overly weak.

It's good to here that about the IMI .223. I have picked up about 500 rounds at a few Walmarts lately and today I just bought 1K from a local gun store for $179.50.

I hope this IMI commercial ammo becomes a regular on the market. With quality milspec becoming pretty scarce (I don't consider XM193PD to be the highest of quality with all the rounds you have to cull out), this will be a nice alternative.

They have IMI at Wally world?  Is it the Black, Gray, and Red box like Wideners.com sells?

Charging: Winchester lists the muzzle velocity on the IMI white box at 3240 FPS from a 24" barrel.

Mark: It is Winchester's regular "white box" but on the back it says "made in Israel". It is .223 not 5.56! It comes in 40 round "value packs" for $7.73. I don't know if 19 cents a round is much of a value, but it's good ammo. I travel for work so if I drive by a Walmart when I am out of town I run into the sporting goods dept. and buy what they have. The most I have found at one place was 7 boxes. It starts to add up after a while and sometimes it is easier to buy a few boxes here and there then it is to lay out $160-180 for a a case.

My experience with the IMI .223 is the wideners black and gray box stuff.  Not sure it is the same as whitebox???  I know it has crimped primers and is sealed though

I would guess that it's not.  White box at 3240fps out of a 24" barrel is not very hot at all.  The Black box had IMI headstamps too.
