I think that you will really see how well your 1/9 handles the heavier, longer bullets when you start shooting 200 and over.

Wow, see, in the time it takes the bullet to get there at 2,830 feet per minute, the wind really plays hell on it!  But yeah, I've seen stranger stuff, but if it's a barrel twist issue, they often show up at longer ranges. I'm curious to hear what someone with AR knowledge has to say so I can file it in the "things to remember" part of my brain! |

The "something" that this tells me is that you shouldn't shoot that rifle/ammo combo past 300m. Or in cold weather.

Actually, someone lectured me to think twice and post once when I called BS on his 0.25MOA accuracy claim out of an AR.  In all sincerity, I told him that I'd believe it if I saw it in person. |

My bro and I had a conversation about this phenomena at Camp Perry this year when discussing loads. In his search for a 600yd load, he found several that would shoot sub-MOA at short range but would be 7- or 8-ring loads back at 600. Play with the loads. At that velocity, you're probably pushing a max load. Try backig off a couple tenths at a time and see how those loads do for you. You might find a slower load that shoots better.
