I just got back from the range. I did some 1911 training....then I went to the rifle range.

I was shootin my little old Model 1 A3 M4 off the bench. Shootin Wolf 62 gr HP to boot. At 100 yds I shot a 3/4" group with that bad 'ol Wolf. The guy next to me was shooting a Ruger .243 with a Lupy scope. His groups were just a skosh tighter. NOT MUCH TIGHTER!

Then, I shot some 300yd at a B-27 silouete target. I had to dial in some hold over as my super expensive Bushnell scope had been set up for M-855. Dialed in the scope and Lo and Behold....I shot a 2 1/2" group with Wolf! Damn! That's the best ever shooting for me!

Those of you who dismiss Wolf out of hand....it seems to get er did!!! I aint got no problem with Model 1 either. They may have no customer service skills, but their shit seems to work OK.

DITTO for me. My bushmaster gives 1 and 2 in groups at 100yds with wolf ammo. The HP seems to fly straighter. At 100 yd

I was getting 0.3"-0.4" groups at 25 yd using Wolf 62 gr - pretty much hitting each other on the paper eventually blowing out a chunk of paper with only 3-5 shots. The 10 shot groups weren't bad either. I noticed much better consistency and accuracy than the XM193 at the same ranges.

My $.02:

Model 1 .223 A3, M4 Upper, MEGA lower at the range today with Wolf .223 55gr. FMJ for the first time.  It grouped as well or slightly better than the Winchester White Box I've been feeding it for its first year.  No FTEs or mishaps of any kind  - albeit in only 150 rnds of test ammo.

Definitely impressed and a little surprised given the level of disdain I've heard for Wolf ammo on this board in the past.  the poly-coated stuff worked as advertised.  I'll be buying 2-3k rounds this week!

Red Rock at West Louisville. The range near Whittakers Gun Shop.

62gr FMJ is now sold out at SG, at least the really inexpensive item listing. I guess people are snatching this stuff up left and right? I was shooting out snake/worm patterns at 25 yd using this stuff.

I heard that the Wolf steel cases are so hard that if you shoot 10 or more rounds in an AR it will chamber and shoot .243 rounds. That bad part is that it will only shoot 2 MOA.

I've had different luck with Wolf, my 6920 shoots it great. In my Mini-14 (I know, I know it was a weak moment and I am going to sell it) you would be lucky to hit the broad side of a barn, shooting from the inside!

It's funny after shooting XM-193 then shooting Wolf, it makes the 193 feel like .338 Win. mag rounds. There is no recoil. For under $100 delivered, you can't beat it for blasting ammo. I like the smell of it, but I hate cleaning the rifle afterwards.

CLP and about 15 min, my AR-15 was totally cleaned up. The Wolf does have reduced felt recoil! Perfect for plinking ammo and quite accurate/consistent through my 24" 1/9 Bushmaster barrel.

Sorry, a little OT, but where are you getting Wolf for under $100 delivered?  I can't find it for less than that before shipping.  Prices have gone up on Wolf, but everyone keeps saying they are still getting Wolf for $90-$100.  Just curious, since I'm looking to buy some.  6 months ago, a local place here had 1K rounds for $99.  Now it's up to $129.

Eight: Check the Sportsman's Guide in the ammo price post that is tacked. If you are a member ($30 a year) and apply a coupon that is linked in the price post it comes out to $99.78 delivered. I just ordered another thousand of XM-193PD at $164 delivered. I got a thousand last week and it was the nicest cleanest lot I've gotten yet and I think it may be time to start hoarding.

I've shot  XM193, Q3131A, UMC, winchester white box, and wolf.  I think the wolf is great for plinking, and like the lighter recoil better for extended shooting sessions.  I'ts now my primary plinking ammo, especially now that it costs north of $2.60 a gallon to get to the range.
