Can anyone shed some insight as to what the going rate is for SA battlepacks?  Seem to remember a thread on here previously, but can't find it.  Thanks!

IF you can find some, expect to pay more for it than new production ammo.

In other words, forget about SA battlepacks. They've become a "trendy" item as of late.

Got a line on some--just wondering how much is too much.

Back in the day, we paid $0.11 to $0.12 per round, Delivered.

That means a battlepack is/was worth $36.

i wouldn't pay much more than that.    You can find NEW Q3131A for $0.16~$0.17 per round much of the time.

I just picked one up (300 rds) in an ammo deal I stumbled upon.

Got 450 rds of Fed AE on stripper clips, 100 rds of Canadian C77 SS109, and one SA battle pack, 850 rounds in total, for $100

So it worked out to 11.7 cents a round, or $35 for the SA battle pack.

So $210 for 1500 ain't too bad.  Thanks.

I sold a few battlepacks about a year ago for about 50 or 55 dollars each.  Got some aussie 308 in return.  It was a good deal.

I was getting it for around 40 bucks for 300, I consider it better stuff then any of the 193/3131 or any other "spec" stuff that is being sold as 5.56 right now. I have never had a single problem with this ammo. I have 3000 rounds of it left [found some more under a bunch of 454 ammo]. I wish I had stocked up on more tho at the time I only had one AR. 2 shows ago I had the chance to get a 2700 round tub and did'nt get it. I'm kicking my self now.

as of right now, South African 308 battle packs are available.

the 300 rd 5.56 packs are getting rarer and rarer each day.

got ya.... i hope SA 5.56 is more accurate than it is in 308.   I can't get 3 in groups at 100 yards with that stuff.

Really?  My two FAL's LOVE the SA .308, so much that I just bought 4 more cases of it.  I agree that they are both tits as far as reliability, I never have had a problem even with abused rounds...  I let a box of the .308 and a box of the .223 sit in my used oil bucket, and every time I take it in to empty it out, I fish a couple out.  So far every one has gone bang....

My Fal loves it also and my Garand shoots it as well as match ammo out to 100-150 yards. even my match ammo loader admitted that out to 200-300 yards it was pretty darn good stuff. I have never had a round fail to go bang using this stuff. Same as the 5.56 stuff. I'd buy more 5.56 in a sec if I could find some at a decent price. I have some stashed for SHTF and I'd use it with just as much confidence as the new production stuff. Nice and hot.
