Haven't bought any 9mm ammo in quite a while, but my stocks of plinking ammo are getting low, so it looks like its time to restock.

What's the going rate these days for 1K rnds of 9mm suitable for plinking?

Reloads are OK, but I'm looking for something clean and reliable.  Loose packed in an ammo can would be fine as well.

Any info/suggestions appreciated,

-Frank

5 bucks a box on sale pretty regularly. Cabalas had it for 4.99 per 50 this spring. This was S&B 115 gr FMJ, good plinking stuff. 99.80 per 1000.

I pay approx $.10 a round, can be found close to that at Walmart, or on sale at some stores.

walmart up this way has wwb value pack 115gr 9mm fmj roundnose 100 for $10.00 and 100 165gr .40s&w fmj flatnose for $15.00 I dont like their 45gr .223 jhp 40/$15  or 123gr 7.62x39 fmj 40/$16 it seems a little pricey for wwb

Walmart used to have their white box 100 value packs @ 10.96  I believe they raised it to 11.45 or around that price.

Dicks sporting goods usually has UMC Remington 115 Gr FMJ on sale for 5.99 for a box of 50.  They give you a extra 10% off if you buy 10 boxes or more which comes to 5.31 a box.
Thats $106.20 for a thousand rounds.  Its about the only ammo I don't buy online.

Keep your eyes open when you visit sporting goods retailers.  For example, a local Gander Mountain had WWB 100 rnd packs on sale for $72 per case.

If reloads are OK then try  www.outdoormarksman.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=30&products_id=477 for $90/1K in ammo cans.  They are up in your neck of the woods so shipping shouldn't be too bad.

Personally I prefer S&B www.outdoormarksman.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=28&products_id=500 for $110/1k for new ammo over the Wally World Win WB stuff.
