Which really is better for 1:9 XM-193 or XM-855. I read the Oracle, I would likes your ideas...
Thanks

I'd go with XM-193

My opinion, both are equally suited to 1:9.  I would be more concerned in barrel length, and the likely distance to target.

For barrels less than 20", I would go with XM193, I think it does better out of shorter barrels than XM855 due to the 193's higher initial velocity. (it can afford the velocity loss due to shorter barrel more than  855 can).

For 20" barrels, either is a great choice.   193 has the advantage of  being almost universally accepted at ranges, some ranges don't want you shooting composite core bullets at their targets, while 855 has the advantage at ranges beyond 300 yrds.

855 is definately a sexier bullet, but all around I prefer the XM193, it works well in a broader variety of guns (barrel length 14.5" - 20" and spin 1:7 to 1:12).

I think they ar both equally good for 1:7 and 1:9 spins.

Better how?  Terminal ballistics, accuracy, something else???

Unless your priority is shooting steel helmets at 600 yds, I'd prefer M193 in every aspect. It has better terminal ballistics and has longer fragmentation range than M855. M193 is cheaper. Up close, it penetrates just as much (or more) steel. Out of a 1:9 twist barrel, it should be on par in terms of accuracy.

Accuracy wise, my 1x9 does very well with XM193, less so with XM855 (groups definitely open up at 100 yds when compared to the XM193).

In contrast, I have found Win or FAE 62 gr FMJ does much better than XM193, so it must be the SS109's longer length and/or different center of balance which challenges the 1x9.
