IMI plastic ammo??

whats the deal with the IMI plastic bullet ammo, marked anti-terrorist?? I found some somewhere and was just curious about it...any info would be appreciated

I had some ammo years ago given to me. Can't remember the markings on the box exactly but it was a 5.56mm plastic cored JHP marked "urban use" or something to that effect. The cycled all my weapons but in a stiff wind they REALLY drifted bad, due to the lousy B.C./S.D.

It's designed for short-range practice or for environments where breaking equipment with missed shots is BAD (think: oil rig, nuke plant, etc.).

how effective is it for actually killing at various ranges?? Im pretty curious about it now

Not great, and its effective range is extremely short. Extremely short. You could shoot it at a 100 yard range all day and never hit the paper, 'cause it will fall out of the air before it hits 75 yards. Figure 20 yards of usable range, and even then, it's not a great performer. But inside that range, it CAN chop right through nearly any ballistic vest or shield due to its high velocity.
