Usually depends on whats around(surplus or commercial), how much is around and who's selling it.
I don't think it's comparable to 12ga ammo sales patterns. Best thing to do is decide what you want, find a price range and buy it when its in that range. It's going to fluctuate a bit. My best advice is, if you shoot alot or want to put some away, buy as much as you can afford whenever you can. Good surplus has a bad habit of disappearing fast. |

The best time to buy Q3131a is in July or August.

It is seasonal. Seasonal is when I have the money. Bought 7,000 rounds yeasterday.

Haven't seen or heard of any seasonal fluctuations.
Bass Pro Shops has a yearly sale, IN-STORE ONLY, in late summer - for the last 2 years they have had Winchester IMI Q3131A 5.56, 55gr., for $144/1000 rounds, $2.88/20, + tax.
