Blue box is reman, red box is new. I always shoot blue box, I even find it to be a little more accurate, dont know why.
Their 52gr HP is top notch stuff. Very accurate, great varmint round. |

OK, cool. Thanks for the response.
I was looking up prices of the blue box vs. red box, the new stuff is twice the price, in general. So the reman stuff is perfectly fine, eh? That is good to know. I guessed so but I was not positive. I got two boxes at the sportsmans warehouse for about $27 total. Good price? I would guess so given the prices I was seeing on random sites on the internet, plus I had heard good stuff about BH. |

I'm going to try Black Hills 52 grain match hollow point as soon as the rain lets up. Got two 50 round boxes from Midway for around $19.50 per box which included state sales tax and shipping. These are the blue box reloads. Have had trouble finding a round that will group well out of a V-Match with 20 inch barrel. I hope these rounds will do the trick.

I have 200 rounds of it that I'm taking out friday. I got the blue box stuff for 13 bucks locally.

I was up in Utah when I picked up those two boxes. Either we went to the same place or Utah has some good prices on this stuff.

Extremely high velocity, low mass
Designed for zapping little critters at close-ish ranges... NOT good for 200yd+ shooting... NOT heavy enough for use on deer, people, etc... |

supposedly 3300FPS but I am sure that is out of a 24" barrel.

This is true, it is a light weight bullet. But it's only 3 grains lighter than the 55 grain. Actually, I'm curious why they even bother with a 52 grain bullet when the 55 gr is so popular. But I would think it would have similar terminal performance to the 55 grain, perhaps even a little bit better because it could have higher velocities. Am I wrong? |

It would actually be better at longer ranges than a 55gr, at least I would assume so.
The 55gr bullets are great and very effective when they fragment. However, once they drop below 2500fps there is almost no chance that they will fragment. It's like a super .22 mag... The 52gr bullet will still expand when it is below 2500fps because it is a HP. Who knows how well it will travel with the lower weight... Winchester makes a 45gr HP varmint round. I think the 52gr BH would probably be better for long range... |

Prarie dogs turn inside out when hit with these. There is also a white box product, blems I think. These are a good deal for small critters inside 250yds. I saw piles of these in South Dakota at First Stop. They are in the same town [Rapid] as Black Hills Ammo. Next year I hope to be able to report on 69 and 77gr. effectiveness, [new upper on the way]! Performance may not be as explosive but mabie I will be able to hit them farther out . |

This seems to be one of the better inexpensive factory reloads. Easy sub-moa at 100 yards.
