Ok Ok I know I will get flamed for this but I desperate man has to do what a desperate man has to do.

Everyone is sold out of 6.8 brass until the end of next month (Oct)!  I have this nice new purdy upper I can't wait to shoot but no ammo to load up! I can't even play around trying to develop the best load for it until I get a stockpile of brass for regular shooting.

Whine, whine, whine...

Can anyone spare just a few pieces of 6.8 brass? I'll pay ya!

If a couple of people sold me just a couple of pieces each I could... well you know, go shoot (kicking dust and stones around right now)

5 people donated 5 each = I would have a whole box of rounds !

Come on guys hook me up.
Please?

For a fellow 6.8 affectionado I could spare some of my recently acquired brass.  I'm still waiting for bullets and dies anyways.  Email me and we'll work something out.  I won't hold you up.

A real swell individual is sending me 30 rounds...for sighting in and deer hunting.
I should have these by Friday.
I will part with three of those if you can get 10 others to do the same.
One good turn deserves another.
Hopefully, we'll all laugh about the 6.8 ammo shortage in a few months...

Or we'll have really expensive coffee table guns.

Ahhh, relief! You guys always come through!

It is great how we can all rely on each other in the "gun world" to help each other in times of need. I greatly appreciate the help guys! Emails are on the way.

Thanks !

buy 30 remington and resize to 6.8
If you have the dies just lube the cases good and it shouldn't be a problem

email in-bound
<edited>

Ok so no email.

Please email me if you wouldn't mind. I would like to know the steps involved.

???
1) Take a 30 Remington case
2) Lube it inside and out with good quality case lube
3) Stick it in what a resizing die of some sort or just a full length sizing die?
4) Is there a step #4 ?

Just use a standard full length sizing die like you would when reloading.
step 4 you may have to trim the brass to length.
step 5 clean brass and go shooting.
step 6 have fun

The 6.8 was developed by someone necking down a 30 rem to 270 cal. and thats all you'll be doing

My brother-in-law and I are both working on 6.8 projects.  He took some 30-30 cases, sectioned one to make sure it had enough meat, then turned the rim off on his lathe and machined the extractor groove.  A trip through the re-sizing die and he was in business.

What recipie did he use?
After trimming the cart; what length should it be?
I reload shotgun and have never reloaded rifle, but I too have a 6.8 upper for my Colt lower and can't wait for Remington to release ammo in the 4th qtr.  So I'm giving thought to buying all this stuff to start reloading my own 6.8.
