does mag fed ammo (ar-15 stuff) need to be crimped?

i'm asking because i have 700 pieces of brass all prepped and ready to start load development, but i wonder if i should be developing the loads with or without a crimp? i can see where a bullet might start walking if a mag was topped off several times before emptied, or maybe if shooting from the big mags, but i wonder if it is my imagination? so... to crimp, or not to crimp?
