You probably can't; it's restricted to LEO use (by company policy, not by law). But you can buy Hornady 75gr Match, which is nearly the same thing.

Natchez has it on sale for $10.61/box of 20. Civilians can buy it HERE AT NATCHEZ all day long. It's the best defensive round I've found for the .223. |

true... BUT its for my personal AR, in no way authorized for use by my dept, used at work or in any other way associated with my job. I have to check some semi-local shops... I want to try some out. |

How does the BH 75gr "Heavy" match compare to the Hornady TAP load? Is it the same bullet?

Same bullet, and same load as the SAAMI-spec TAP load. There is also a "5.56" (i.e., higher pressure and velocity) version of the 75gr TAP load. Departments must sign a waiver stating that they understand that this ammo can only be used in rifles with 5.56 chamber dimensions before Hornady will sell it, and it goes directly to the department. -Troy |

None of the TAP except the 75 is up to par for antipersonnel work. 75 is fine. |

What are the advantages of this round and will it stabalize out of a 15.5 inch 1/9 barrel?

Same bullet, yes. I do seem to recall that one of the polymer TAP loads uses an Amax. Can't remember which one, right now. |

well brou, I don't know if they've ever loaded the amax for the tap. They have loaded the 55 grain vmax, the 60 grain soft point, and the 75 bthp. That's what I know, and the natchez sight confirms that. Now I don't know what's current and what's not.

There is (was?) the 60gr Vmax and I *think* the 52gr Amax as well.
I don't feel like researching it tonight tho :) I've got a bad headache. |

Impressive terminal effects - fragmentation starting very shallow yet it still meets FBI & IWBA penetration requirements. It MAY stabilize out of your barrel. It works well enough (2moa) out of my 1:9 barrels (14.5, 16, & 20). Just make sure your barrel is copper free when you try it (it wouldn't stabilize in my 14.5 till I cleaned the copper out). Some 1:9s don't stabilize the round - it has to do with manufacturing tolorances when rifling the barrel. |
