I know Q3131A is made in Israel by IMI.  Is IMI M193 the same as Q3131A?  Has anyone tested both to compare velocity, accuracy from same rifle?

I was shooting IMI's M855 round out of a 16" and 20" 1 in 7 twist barrel.  I discovered Q3131A is actually more accurate out of both of my rifles.

Unless I can find a sale on Q3131A, IMI's 193 load from Botach is usually cheaper.

HELP!

Wholesale Hunter currently has XM193 for $75/case + shipping.

I can only comment on the functionality of the IMI M193, it works perfect in my AR.  I'm really looking forward to getting on a bench rest to look at the accuracy, looks like it might be spring before that happens though! [:)]

wingman,

can you tell us what the headstamp on your IMI M193 reads?  or better yet, a pic of the ass end of the cartridge?

thanks

Troy,

Thanks, this answers my question.

I wanted to assume that both loads were identical, but am old enough now to know the dangers of assuming...

Thank you for your reply

One thing I am curious about is some variation on the headstamps, both the cartridges below came out of the same box of 30, what are the extra markings at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock?

BTW these are IMI factory sealed boxes.

It's difficult to get a photo of the headstamps! [:D]

Quoted:
I've personally sectioned the bullets from both, and both are 100% consistant with the IMI 55gr FMJ bullets that I reload with.  Both have identical velocity (given normal lot-to-lot variations), and have identical features.  This isn't surprising, since both IMI M193 and Win Q3131A are loaded in the same plant on the same machines.

The only difference between them is the headstamp and the packaging.

Ditto! The only difference between them is the headstamp and the packaging.

You might be interested in some shooting my buddy OP and I did with military ammo. Very subjective of course, but in our rifles the IMI was a good performer. None of the ammo was match grade, but I was quite impressed with the IMI. All the posts not withstanding, the transaction with Botac was without any problems. Just follow their instructions on ammo statement, DL photo and payment and wait for the UPS truck.

The different numbers are manufacturing aids to spot which machine the cases came off so adjustments can be made if they're out of quality control specs.  And to cull out bad cases if something gets really out of whack.  Common with really masss production using multiple machines.

I was curious about that, as I was sorting fired casings I noticed several different markings, including some with only IMI 02, and confirmed that those markings vary even in the same idividual box of 30.

It's good ammo, I stocked up and am set for a while!  [:D]

I've also got IMI ammo from Botach, one case of IMI headstamps and one case of TZZ 00 headstamps. Both were just fine.

My ol' lady ordered me a case from Botach for Christmas. The headstamp on mine reads as TZZ 01. Good looking ammo. I can't wait to try it out this weekend

You'll love it. I've shot it the past three weekends in a row, about 1500 rds total, not one bad rd.

Gonna have to order some more real soon.
