I am wanting to ship some ammo, but when I went to the UPS store, they said that ammo and gunpowder cannot be shipped.  Is this true?

Ammo is an ORM-D marked commodity.  If you were shipping "hazardous materials" then you would have to have a company that has a "contractual agreement" ship it, but any Joe can ship ammo if the box is a 200 lb certified box, and properly marked with "ORM-D" stickers on all 4 sides and the top.
As per the above, only UPS Ground if you are an individual.

There are a lot of us that buy ammunition by the case from vendors that support this website, I got case of M193 this month, shipped by UPS, clearly marked ORM-D on the outside of the box.

You should be able to get boxes from UPS themselves already marked with the ORM-D designation...ask a different clerk. Some of them just freak out over this sort of stuff, and lots of them do not know their own regulations.

That's all you need on the box.

Powder and primers are Hazardous, cartridge are not.

If the powder and primer are hazardous, then why is the whole cartridge not?

Not quite sure, they have some odd regulations, primers are hazardous, but primed brass isn't!  Trying to figure out the government will only give you headaches!  [:D]
