De-miled ammo is pieces and parts. You talking about reloads, or reprocessed?

Where is this "Lake City Demilled" ammo that you've found? Link? I could always use more ammo (heh, yeah, like I need a hole in my head, but, hey, why not?) I figure cheap, brass cased ammo to practice, save the good stuff for a rainy day.

There's a co. called "Ammo to Go" in Texas. 979-277-9676 or email [email protected]. They have reasonable prices on incendiary ammo, too.
Price is $139/1000 or $270/2000. Shipping $19 and $30. BTW, Chuck - I have no idea if it's reloads or reprocessed. |

Ammo is demilled in the following manner:
1) bullet is mechanically pulled; some .50 is pulled by hand 2) powder is dumped 3) the empty case is dumped into a chemical which makes the primer inert 4) sometimes the dead primer is punched out Companies (or you) can buy the demilled ammo parts by the pound and then reload them. Don't buy the brass with the dead primer still in them as it's an extra step to pop them out and then removing the crimp. Odds are that any LC ammo you buy has been reloaded. |

The military considers cartridges to be one time use and sells the cases as scrap. Reloaded military brass is very common -- there's tons of cases available.

It's reliable enough for practice, but NOT reliable enough for duty/defensive ammo.

OK, next question please:
If I zero my sites with 55 grain M193 demilled ammo, then fire 55 grain M193 "regular" ammo, will I still be at zero? |

At what range? At close range, under 25 yards, point of impact should be very simmilar. At 200, who knows? You should shoot both and find out. Otherwise, just sight your rifle for the duty ammo and practice with the cheap ammo.
