just oredered a case from botach, eferan from botach even split my order 600rds of steel and 600rds of fmj at the same price. cant wait to get it. really nice guy and helpful too. from now on i'll be buying my ammo from botach

I don't know the actual dimensions of the bullet. IMI designed the M855S to act just like the M855 without the steel core.
Basic physics will tell us something has to give if we remove the steel. My guess is one of two things (1) they simply made the bullet smaller (2) they kept the external dimensions the same and balanced the weights with a thicker copper jacket. You could ask IMI at the forum on their website if you really want to know. Cheers, |

If a M855 has its Steel removed, ITS NOT M855 anymore!
SO they would have to take out the "M855" before the S. |

From their web site: "IMI's 5.56mm M855, SB (SPECIAL BULLET) cartridge, known as the "silver tip" cartridge, is being sold world-wide." "BULLET CORE TYPE: STEEL FREE, HIGH ANTIMONY LEAD ALLOY" Happy shooting, Chris PS in many European countries a silver tip denotes a match, sniper or reference load. Maybe it does here too? |
