Only the old battle-packs of the M1 series are M193-spec, and most of these are gone. We've seen the following:
M1A5 - mid 90s
M1A4 - early 90s
M1A3 - late 80s.
M1A2 - mid 80s
M1A1 - early 80s
Starting around 1998, it would appear that the "military" ammo production was moved, and there were several changes. The post-98 brass was Boxer-primed (reloadable), while the battlepack ammo was Berdan-primed. Post-98 ammo is loaded to SAAMI-specs, about 150-200 fps slower than M193, and it is no longer packed into the vinyl "battlepacks". It is still packed in wedge-shaped 30-round boxes, but the headstamp is now "DNL XX" with the XX being the year.
Then, there is the commercial PMP, which is the same ammo as the new "military" ammo, but with PMP headstamps and commercial packaging, meaning 20-round boxes with plastic dividers. Again, it is NOT M193-spec.
