Anyone gotten any of the Spainish SS109 surplus that Sportsmans guide has for sale? Any good?

If it is loaded by Santa Barbara, it should be very accurate ammo. In fact, this is one of the most accurate SS109 loads you can buy. I just got my new SG Shooter's catalog today as well and saw this ammo, but I can't confirm it's Santa Barbara. You might give em a ring and ask before ordering. FWIW, I have also heard a few others say it doesn't seem to perform as well against steel as US and Israeli M855. Again, I am not telling this to be the literal truth as I have no idea, but I have heard this mentioned. Nevertheless, if it is SB it should make some very nice target/plinking loads and is cheap.

There is a better price out there for it, it's Samco. I saw it in Shotgun News at $319 for 2000. I will be ordering some soon.

The stuff SG is advertising now is the same SB that was widely available a couple years back. Very accurate and functions perfectly in my 20 inch Colt. There were some complaints of failure to extract in 16 inch and shorter barrels. The claim is that the brass is soft and the rims would tear off. IIRC, it also chronographed about 100 fps slower than M855 spec.

Just FYI, the headstamps on all the Santa Barbara SS109 that I have indicate that it was manufactured in 1994.

Sportsmans Guide's Club price for 5 Packs (2000 rounds) is $308.60. Unless Samco ships for free this looks better to me.

I can't find it, can someone post a link for the 2000 price? Thanks.

Found it, but how about a coupon #? I have SPG1945 for $5 off, but there's gotta be a better one!

I used coupon code # SPG1788 for $20 off my total. And shipping was something like $17 for 2000 rounds to ohio. Thats less than Samco wanted for this ammo.

Thanks for all the input and the coupon code! I think I may order some this week.

I just ordered 5 Battle packs plus Buyers club membership and got free shipping. With the coupon code (SPG1788 for $20) the total came to $318.59 delivered. That is under $0.16 a round.

So, how did you manage free shipping?

Regarding the free shipping.

On Saturday I priced out the Santa Barbara and noticed that SG was offering a special "Half price shipping" if you join the Buyers Club. At the time I did not order. I just emptied my shopping cart.

I went back to the site on Sunday evening and went to the link for the Santa Barbara and changed the quantity to 5 and hit checkout. This time even with Buyers Club it came up as full price shipping, the shipping price was twice as much as I saw Saturday night.

Then I remembered that on Saturday I added the Battle packs one at a time (Who knows if this made the difference?).  So I emptied my cart and started over adding 1 battle pack at a time trying to reproduce what I did the night before. As I moved on to the checkout process the message that asks if you want to join the Buyers Club said the special offer was "Free Shipping" not half price like yesterday.

An offer I could not pass up. Especially since "Bookertbab" posted the $20.00 coupon code. The best one I was able to find was for $10.00.
