How would you compare the Spanish Santa Barbara SS109 62 gr ammo to others you have shot?  Is this a good ammo for a 1:9 twist barrel?

It's the most accurate surplus ammo I've ever had. 2,000 rounds functioned perfectly in my 20 inch Colt. I have seen reports of failure to extract in 16 inch rifles. IIRC, the rims would tear off the case.

It'll work fine in a 1:9 twist barrel.

Shot some across my cheap green "chrony".

20" 1x7 Colt-  3096 avg - 5 shot

11.5" 1x9 Bushmaster-  2693 avg - 5 shot

7.5" 1x9 DPMS-  2345 avg - 5 shot

Next is the black tip IGMAN SS109.......

its great ammo if you can find it. dont use it just for plinking though. even though its surplus i have found it to be the equal of blackhills 69gr out to 200yds or so. absolutely amazing for surplus.

I have never shot the 5.56, but in every other caliber I have used it in, it has been very good ammo.

Thanks for your replies.  It does seem to shoot very well for surplus ammo, kind of on the expensive side here in Fla.  However, at least 1 out of every 3 will not extract and I have to tap it out with my cleaning rod.  Could it my Bushy AR-15 A3 doesnt like it, the Bushy mags, or maybe the extractor?  I will have to try it in my Bushy M4gery next.

I don't see how failures to extract could be blamed on the magazine.
