Has anyone had experience with the PMP .223 being sold by Century?  It is brass cased, boxer primed, 55 grain FMJBT.  I have been using S&B 5.56 Green Box and been very happy, but looking to save a little mony and still have a decent quality ammo for punching holes in paper.  At $144 per M (plus the Century $12.50 S&H), seems like a pretty good deal especially since the S&H covers an entire shipment regardless of how much you buy.

I've used the PMP (Pretoria Metal Pressings) 55-gr .223/5.56 ammo for about three years and it's great stuff. I've had absolutely no failures or problems. I don't reload, so I'm not that concerned about the thickness of the brass in the shoulder area, etc.

PMP are the same folks who make the South African M1A3 surplus ammo that everyone, myself included, raves about. The only difference is that the mil surp ammo is loaded to 5.56mm pressures and the .223 stuff is a tad underpowered, but offers a boxer primer for reloaders. It's clean and reliable ammo and some guys have been selling it for less than $3 a box, which puts it at the top of my list for plinking ammo.

It usually works OK, but it is loaded a little on the light side.

I love the stuff. Just been having problems locating more to buy.

I tried some about 3 years ago and at that time I wasn't very impressed with it.  It wouldn't cycle the bolt/carrier properly (short stroking).  Went to the Fun show last weekend and found some for $1.99 a box/20.  I said what the heck and  bought 10 boxes.  I tried it yesterday and I was surprised at the performance of it.  No failures at all.  At $1.99 I should have bought a case.

Where did you get that PMP .223 ammo for only $2 a box? I'd like to get a few cases of that stuff at those prices.

I got a case of PMP from AIM Surplus.  Cost $144/M with about $15 shipping.  Clean stuff.  Works great in my M4gery with the CAR length handguards (short gas tube).

I've heard it's about 100FPS slower than milspec, but F it, I just us it for tactical matches.  Cardboard reacts just fine to it, IMHO.

I'd recommend it.

I've used both PMP and S&B.

I found that S&B was more accurate that the PMP.

So if you want to Rock & Roll; Go with whichever is cheapest.
If you want to shoot ground hogs starting from 200 yards; I’d go with S&B.
