Any suggestions on how to bench rest shoot an AR-15 properly for consistantcy. Thanks.

Guess there are 2 methods,
1. Same as w/ any bolt rifle, use a good heavy, adjustable front rest, generally something like this:

You'll need a good leather bag for the above and a bunny-eared rear leather bag. Suggest ya remove the rear sling from the stock for consistency.

Works for us, although
2. A good "S" type Harris bipod will work just as well and is what I shoot my long range AR from, using the bunny-ear rear bag in conjunction w/ the bipod.

You really need a high powered telescopic sight too.  Otherwise sighting errors, even off the rest will distort your group sizes.  A machine rest is best but darn expensive.

If you want to be able to shoot MOA accuracy, you have to first be able to "See" MOA detail on the target.

The AR15 is much more accurate than most have experienced becuase it is not akin to using 20X to 36X power bench rest type scopes.

If you ever get the chance, get the best high powered scope (14X or higher)on your gun and you will be amazed at what a quality AR15 can do.

I have a stock Bushmaster with a 24 inch Vmatch barrel and a 4.5X to 14X Leupold scope that shoots consistent 3/4 MOA at 200 yds.
