Take off the upper and try pulling the charging handle to see if it has any binding. If so, remove the bcg and try just the handle. Check the bcg and gas area for any wear spots like it's binding.
If the upper is free moving, then check the hammer and trigger mechanism. Check your binding or difficult movement. |

Nope upper cycles fine, cycles fine when the hammer is cocked, cycles fine when it's 1/4 cocked....the only way I can't get it to cycle is when the hammer is fully released.....and it's VERY locked up at that point. Need to break it down and manually reset the hammer. |

Sounds as the hammer is the only thing that's causing the problem. I would take it the trigger group and reinstall. Check that springs ate in the right orientation.

What style hammer do you have? Is your bolt ramped?
