I am looking for suggestions to mount on an AR .223 upper and a .22 conversion. I will put it in a quick detach mount and move it between the two uppers. With target range expected to be between 25.yrds min for the .22 to 400-yrds for the .223 what scope would you suggest. I am after more precision than a red dot offers and parallax adjustment is necessary unless the scope is set from 10-yrds to infinity. Budget is sub $1k. Thanks for your help and ideas

I'm using several of the Center Point Scopes on Rifles from 22 through 45 Winchester Magnum.
Totally Amazing. I'm Field Testing the new CMMG TANGO 22 with one from Wal Mart here in
the US. Last time out I fired a sub 1/2 inch group at 100 yards with Federal Lightning Ammo.
The settings are externally adjustable for windage and elevation and others at the range laid their
firearms down to watch as I hit small pieces of Pumpkin every single shot at that range.. I initially
figured these scopes had to be pieces of crap to get by with because the price was so low. I was
SO WRONG... I have heard of some bad ones that people have returned but all of the ones I have
used are fantastic. I would expect a quality name brand scope to cost 10 to 20 times as much.
For what you'd be risking in cost, it's literally a pocket change item....

Added: Make sure that you get one for Picatinny Rail Mount, Not DoveTail. That's if that's if the one
your buy comes with rings included...

This is the one I have 3 of:

FWIW, I once tried a zero an ACOG with a 22 kit & then shooting .223.  There were several inches of difference at 25 yards.   YMMV, GL.

Do you think the Leupold VX-R 3-9X40 with the firedot TMR reticle is a good option ?

You won't go wrong with that choice.

Thanks. Not unlimited money to burn but i would rather buy once, cry once. I can't afford to get it wrong if that's my approach. Appreciate your thoughts.

How do you get on with that scope inside 100-yards ? Isn't there a parallax issue ? Thank you

You gave me $1K play with so I just went with it.

.223/5.56
Leupold Mark AR 6-18x40 $550
LaRue Scope Mount LT104 $210

.22LR
Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9x40mm $140

You can make the .223 really precise, but you have to sacrifice the closer ranges of the .22LR.  For what it's worth this setup is still under your $1K budget.
