I had an Olympic barrel in this weekend to be shortened.
Whenever I get in a barrel that I don't have a drawing of, I take a few minutes to measure and document it.
When I was measuring this particular barrel, I noted that without the fake flash suppressor pressed into place that the barrel was only 15 3/4" long when measured to the breech face.
Now, the fake flash suppressor was NOT permanently attached by any BATF approved method.
It was simply pressed on to a knurled area on the barrel and some green loctite was there.
I was able to knock the barrel out of the fake FS with a 1/2" diameter punch and just a couple hammer strikes.
If you have one of these barrels, measure the length from the breech face to the muzzle.
Beware that without the fake FS permanently attached that the muzzle is really down at the end of the rifling, about 1/2" from the end of the fake FS.
If your barrel is too short, I suggest that you have the fake FS pinned and welded into place to bring your barrel up to 16" long.
ETA: It appears that this barrel was re-worked after it left Olympic and before it came to me.
No need to call Olympic about this as they have not sold any barrels that were too short.
