love my 10mm upper. gain on average 400fps more velocity.

also got a 9mm because it's cheap to shoot

I voted 9mm because it is the only one I have tried. I like the reduced recoil, report, and price of the ammo.

.45acp because I built one! I for some reason felt I really needed a .45 rifle to go with my .45 pistols. Just an issue of ammo interchangeablity. It's also alot quieter than a .223 although with significantly shorter range. I'd also believe that 30 .45acp rounds for up close and personal work should be sufficient for pretty much any problem.

I like the 45...cause its the one I have. I'll get a 9mm later this year probably. But right now I love the 45. And I can bump fire SO easy!

Same here. I have noticed I can bump better and longer with the carbine spring/buffer. It doesn't workso well with the rifle length spring/buffer.

I have 2 9mm ARs and my next pistol AR will be 10mm. That one will wait awhile as I want to see what happens with high cap magazines.

I don't have any pistol caliber AR's.

I'm thinking of getting a 16", 9mm after the ban dies. My brother has a Colt M16. He has about 6 uppers. He never shoots anything but the 10.5", 9mm anymore.

IMHO, Cheap ammo and fun to shoot. Just picked up 1,000 rounds at Bass Pro Shop and wanta shoot it up.

The 10mm ROCKS! It is easily the power champ of the PISTOL caliber uppers.

The negatives are a lack of decent hi-cap mags and it is costly to shoot unless you reload.

i picked .40 cal. my department gives us free .40 cal for practice. i'm in the process of buiilding a .40 kit and maybe a .40 cal HK clone, we'll see how fast i run out of money.

i think its cheaper to get a 9mm and buy my own ammo, though for the price of the HK mp5/40 clones

I've got mixed emotions about this. I voted 9mm because that's what I'll buy when the time comes (soon, I hope). That's primarily because of the number of other 9mm guns I have already and the very low cost of ammo (especially reloads). Although I have several .45's too, the cost of ammo sways me to 9mm because I prefer to be able to shoot in volume.

However, I always thought 10mm would be the ultimate pistol caliber for an AR. I'm just not ready to commit to another caliber. To me, the decision is driven mostly by support/supply issues at this stage.

I like my 9mm Oly, Cost was the main factor at the time, Ammo was cheaper but now I want one of each! 40/9mm/45-45 Super.....
I don't have a 10mm pistol but I want one!

I'm toying with the idea of getting a pistol caliber upper (or two, or nine) after I'm done with my "serious" post AWB stuff, and I'm a fan of the .40 (in particular the LRM), but I was wondering, do the .40s also use the 9mm hammer?

I just swap out my 5.56 upper for the Oly .40 and its been flawless. I have a JP single stage in one Bushy lower and a Stoner 2 stager in the other. The upper work with both.

That's cool; so you think the upper would work just fine with my standard bushmaster trigger?

Does anyone know if this is the case with the LRM .40? That's really what I have my eye on so far.

Gotta advise folks to use a heavy buffer with the pistol calibers, my .45 Cav split in half from using the stock buffer assembly. I'd highly suggest at least the full size rifle buffer, preferably the heavier pistol caliber buffer assemblies. After mine came apart I've researched it a bit and apparently even the 9mm can beat an aluminum receiver to death. Use the right buffer and everything should be okay. It was something I didnt know and maybe I can save someone else the horror of looking at your AR in several pieces....

Yes, they use the exact same standard .223 hammer for .223/9m/10mm/.45ACP/.40S&W, etc!

I'm a L.EO. and my chief would never sign for an AR-15.

Now that the ban is R.I.P.

, I just picked up a NIB L.E.O. marked Colt AR6450 carbine. Came with a 32 round mag and I got another used 32 rounder.

I was surprised. It has a one piece mag block, with the screw, pinned in the mag well with two pins. I've seen the two piece mag blocks, with three pins, in the factory rifles but never a one piece block pinned in. Guess it's a new idea.

Cleaned it and going shooting tomorrow.

Gun show this weekend and looking for some 20 round mags.

I’m gonna show my chief my new, legal, L.E.O. marked carbine.

I love the 9 because sten mags and 9mm ammo are so cheap. But the .45 is going to be the next purchase, now that full cap mags are available. I will like it more better.

well, i was thinking of getting a .50 A.E. but im not sure of mag avaibilty, but it would go SO nicle with a Hamilton Bowen Redhawk .50AE 1917 stlyed revolver....big bullets in both guns!
