If I understand correctly, I think the mp5 mags are too wide for the magwell. Uzi mags are not. Some Madsen (sp?) mags are curved, and can be used, although I haven't had any luck finding any. J |

I don't know how accurate the airsoft replica stuff is but I have an MP5 (yea yea I know I'm playing with toys...) and the mags fit exactly into the magwell of my AR's. In fact the indent for the release appears to place the top of the mag very near to where it should be height wise. So much so I though about getting a 30 round clip and seeing if it could be modded to accept .22lr for my ciener conversion. Of course there would still be the issue of a mag well adapter to keep it in snug.

The mags in the picture most likely aren't mp5 mags? Or a way different mag block?

The Colt system has the mag in the center and the Oly has it way up front. Where did that pic come from? Off the web randomly or did you take it at some shoot??? |

The mag in the picture is most likely a 30 round magazine for a ciener 22lr conversion kit.
I checked the 30s for my ciener, and the body is positioned at the back just like the pic. J |

To confirm H357's first post, I just tried it and MP5 mags are too wide to fit in a standard AR-15 magwell.

MP5 mags fit just fine into the new CAV15 MKII lowers. Im looking into doing a mag block for myself. I thought it would be kinda cool.

I can tell you firsthand that MP5 mags are too wide, tried it once and no go.
Out of curioustiy, I am assuming you have a 9mm HK? Because I can think of no other reason you would want to use $40+ HK mags when you can get $15 uzi mags that already work in a standard upper. Sorry, don't mean for that to sound rude, I really was just curious! |

No , I don't have an HK. I also have several Uzi mags that seem to be working.
I haven't had my Colt style 9mm upper very long so I'm still working on getting it to run 100%. My first thought when I saw the picture of the curved magazine was, that a curved mag will give more reliable operation than most straight mags. Also when considering that factory preban colt 30 rd. mags are a bargin at $100, a $40 mag that has to be notched seemed like a good deal to me. Thanks for all the replys. It saves me from wasting money on a MP5 mag to see. |
