New to the AR world. This is my second AR. First one is a RRA 24' varmint .223.

My build started from a desire to understand how to care for my RRA. I bought a part here and there, until I finally have all of it except my bolt carrier group (backordered with RRA). Timing was horrible on that :)  

Did a duracoat Urban Mirage White (gray) and then put it together. Best project I have done in a long time.

I was thinking of painting my AR with Duracoat and was told that the CeraKote is much more durable. I went to the CeraKote Site and watched a video on ware using a 1,000 pound pressure simulator and revolutions.

Basically,  Duracoat could handle 449 rotations before ware failure and CeraKote had over 5,000 before ware failure.

I contacted an applicator I have dealt with in the past for other things, acoating.com, and they gave me the price of $50 for the lower and $50 for the upper, plus shipping and needs stripped down or they can do it for additional cost.

Duracoat seems to be good but for a life time product, I'm going to go with CeraKote.

Also Duracoat would be good for something you plan on changing colors up and aren't worried about ware after a short time, like a daily carry that you just want function, not perrty and perfection.

Not too worried about the duracoat coming off. The idea was to build a rifle from scratch the first time. The paint scheme was just a bonus. I can always go back and do it again or send it off to ceracote later.

After long deliberation....  I am officially naming this rifle. Name = 'The Stormtrooper' !

I'm new to the ar world, I was about 2months into saving when the sandy hook craze started. So now I'm looking into building to make it affordable. So my question is, if I purchase:
1) stripped lower (code red)
2) lower parts kit (rock river)
3) collapsable stock with buffer/spring (rock river)
4) complete upper w/ charging handle, bolt carrier & barrel, ejector (Windham 16” Heavy Upper Receiver/Barrel Assembly - Complete Less A4 Carry Handle)
5) mag (whatever 30rd mags I can get)

Will I need anything else? Am I missing anytHing or see any problems other then over paying?

I would say you could wait until the panic buying demand levels off. Or if you find deals, got for it.  It is your rifle. Play with it first before adding or removing things off of it.

Finally put some rounds through 'The Stormtrooper' and it was flawless!  First build has me hungary to do more!

Looks outstanding!  Remember that Duracoat isn't fully "cured" till 3 to 4 weeks after application...you won't get max hardness/resilience of the Duracoat till then...light use only in that timeframe.
