Yes thev14.7 is at least an inch shorter than the 16" barrel. I have two of he 14.7s and one 16" A3 and there is a difference.

The 14.7" barrel is 1.3" shorter than a 16" barrel. And with a USGI compensator permanently fitted, as LWRC does, the barrel is 16" long, just like a 16" barrel without a muzzle device but that same 1.3" shorter than a 16" with compensator on the end.
2d one down in the photo is a M6-SL (lightweight barrel) 16" with screw on M16A2 compensator. 3d is LWRC M6A1 14.7" with permanent M16A2 compensator. 4th is 14.5 with permanent Vortex (also 16" long)  < click to enlarge.

Just so you know, (and you probably do) you or your dealer can upgrade your pinned muzzle device before it is pinned. LWRC keeps a number of AAC products in stock, as well as a few others. You can also supply your own BC, FSC556, etc.

Thanks all for the answers. Common sense said that the 14.7" w/ the pinned flash hider would come in 1.3" under the 16" barrel with the same flash hider but was worth asking (for me anyway) to confirm.
