Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Ruger SR556 brothers, opinion wanted - roller cam pin before break-in?

I am going to help a nephew with his new Ruger SR556, should I suggest he swap out the cam with a roller right away before he even shoots it?   I swapped mine in after about 500 rounds and have been very happy with the roller.   Opinions?  Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't but mine has not had any issues with cam pin drag to warrant it.

I've got an LMT MRP Piston 16, and I put a POF roller cam pin in it before I even fired it and have not noticed any cam pin drag after about 600 rounds. I also use an Adams Arms bolt spring.

Ditto.  I put one in both my Rock River/Adams Arms conversion and my Ruger SR556 before I even fired a round in each.  Flawless so far.
