DS Arms is proud to introduce a new upper configuration!
DS Arms Special Fluted M4 Upper This new offering from DS Arms features a specific type of fluting found on machine gun barrels. This fluting is specifically designed for maximum heat dissipation. We originally began incorporating this fluting into a new project we are working on for contract sales, a dedicated IAR rifle and upper. We will also be offering our complete IAR uppers and rifles in the near future. This upper features our Parkerized 5.56 chambered 16" 1:9 M4 barrel. The special machine gun barrel fluting, our own manufactured 7075-T6 upper receiver and A2 birdcage flashhider. Thank you for looking! Click to Order |

What is the contour under the hand guard? Is it fluted under there as well?
That would look real good if the handguard had horizontal ribbing/venting. The classic M4 handguard with it's vertical lines seems to clash a bit. |
Fluting looks good, but it's begging for a smooth forearm. VTAC, mabye Daniel Defense MFR....

Quoted: The vertical lines do clash a bit. I am fond of the MOE handguards. http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0566.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0566.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0565.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0567.jpg Yeah, that's what I'm talking about! |
Looks way better than dimples. I like the way yall think. Very clean looking and symmetrical.
That looks great! Will a 14,5 1/7 or 1/9 twist ever be considered? even if not it still is an awesome barrel.
No offense intended....but....I really don't appreciate barrels with the step down for an M-203...however that is one of the nicest fluting jobs I have ever seen....
If it shoots as good as it looks you have a real winner on your hands...... Personally I'd like to see the whole gambit of barrel lengths ....with the same diameter and fluting under the hand guards.... I don't know if it functions better than dimples or simply milling the barrel diameter down but if looks could kill......this would be deadly... congratulations...nice job. |
Is it midlength system?
Can you order with Magpul handguard attached? |
Would love to see the option to send in our barrels to be done.
Sent you guys a PM.......anybody home??? You also have other guys on here asking about the post you put up. You might want to answer interested customers. Thanks, 9080

Please, please, please offer a 14.5" un pinned that i would buy
Sorry guys, im kind slow to get online Monday mornings. I just responded to your PM.
The barrel is not fluted under the hand guards. It will be on our IAR we are currently T&E, but in order to stay in our price market we did not do it on this upper. This offering is a carbine M4 contour. We will look into other configurations (gas system, barrel contour and barrel length) in the future. If you want to order the upper with the MOE hand guards you can put both items in your cart and put in the special notes section "please install the MOE hand guards" Or you can call in to order. |

We will be offering many uppers with this fluting soon. This fluting has been done before on the MK46 and our RPD carbines. This "machine gun" fluting works very well and acts in the same way fins on a car radiator react to heat.
Another interesting note is that our new fluted M4 barrel weighs LESS than a STD lite weight 6520 type barrel. We first started this fluting in house with our RPD carbine and while it works great for weight and cooling; the RPD barrel is pretty heavy and that does not really show how well this fluting design works. In the lighter contour STD HBAR barrels is where you will find the best results. |

Woooo Cant wait to see some of your offerings i have my SBR lower that one of these would be perfect for, maybe a 11.5" |

We have bolt a IAR 16" HBAR fluted and a 11" HBAR fluted. Pics will be up today on. IT'S SEXY!!!
I've never seen a AR barrel run this cool after 300 round non stop, you can touch the handguard at the chamber end or throughout on our IAR, and can "fast tap" the barrel at the front without leaving melted skin. Also we have not had a single cook off yet in testing. Of course a 1000 round dump with Armatec drums could increase the chances but IDK it works pretty good. ALL at a retail of less than $1500 for the complete rifle. The upper should be around $1100 retail. 16" 4150 chromlined 1:7 "machine gun fluted" lo profile 4140 nitride gas block Vltor CASV handguard Alloy "super finned" gas tube side support heat sink DSArms IAR "delta sink ring" (BTW its MOE style and STD M4 backwards compatible) "beefed" up DSArms Forged M4 upper receiver Forged Steel DSArms charging handle Vltor folding front sight DSArms folding A2 rear sight There are also internal upgrades to the IAR as well that fix issues with all M4s, we have a provisional patent filed on one and the other is undergoing the provisional patent process right now. More detail to follow on these. |

Here are a few pics of the fluting on a different contour barrel. This is our IAR prototype rifle. http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0575.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0574.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0573.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0572.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0571.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0570.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0569.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0568.jpg http://i1080.photobucket.com/albums/j335/mf762x51/SAM_0577.jpg For the enhanced upper we removed most of the pic rail to strengthen the upper receiver. We left enough slots to attach the Vltor rail and since the rail has a full pic rail you can still mount your accessories. Some of the features that will come on this rifle are; our steel charging handle, our Ambi selector, Vltor Casv rail system, Vltor IMOD butt stock, enhanced upper receiver, our special fluting, our Lo-Pro gas block and a few internal enhancements I can not yet go into. The complete rifle with out mag and grip pod only weighs in at 7.8 pounds. And did inread the 11" correctly? If so i gotta start saving up my money |
Yes, a 11" CQB IAR same design, fulting, delta ring and upper.

So is it extra for me to order both the MOE handguards and your three prong flash hider with this and have you guys throw em on before it ships?
No, there is NOT an upcharge for us to put MOE HG's and our 3 prong flash hider on the upper. You can call in to order it that way or put a note on your online order, "please install the handguards and flash hider"
Thanks for the interest! |

Here is a video during some of our testing stages for heat dissipation.

Thank you DSArms Awesome news and how would the muzzle brakes be permanently attached? Also can the Bayonet lug be removed or a front site without bayonet lug be installed prior to shipment also? You definitely will have a customer in the near future. |

At this time we do not have plans for a 6.8, but we MAY do it for our 300AAC barrels.
Thanks! |

I have a DSA mid-length fluted upper and have been very happy with it.

We do remove the deadly lug!!!
$60.00 gets a soldered on Wilson Combat muzzle break, the bayonet lug removed and barrel re-finished. Because this is "special" configuration you will need to call to order the upper like this. Thanks, Mike |

A 20" gov't profile barrel with the same fluting style would be sweet.
