Here is a sneak peek at our new L5 Advanced Warfighter Magazine that we will introduce at SHOT 2011

The L5 AWM is a hybrid magazine that combines the best features of polymer and steel magazine designs. Unique to the AWM is the one piece wrap-around hardened steel feed lip assembly that is permanently attached to an impact resistant polymer body. The hardened steel feed lips won’t bend, break or deform due to rough handling or long term storage. An aggressive surface texture has been applied to the polymer body to improve gripping and retrieval from pouches. The combination of steel and polymer result in a lightweight, robust magazine tough enough for professional use.   
The internal geometry of the Advanced Warfighter Magazine is a constant curve that has been maximized to feed the 5.56X45mm NATO round and has a non-tilting follower for trouble-free feeding. The feed lips are made from a single piece of precision formed steel that is hardened, then PTFE coated for corrosion resistance. The body and component materials are corrosion and chemical resistant, passing military chemical testing, including exposure to DEET. 
The L5 AWM is compatible with modern weapon systems; M4/M16/AR, HK416, SCAR-L / Mk16, and the ARX160 to name a few and is available in 20-and 30-round capacity with a translucent or opaque polymer body.

On a serious note, they look pretty interesting and I like the dots to establish grip. I'll have to try a couple out when they come out. I'm pretty much a pmag guy but I'm open to anything if the price isnt too much higher and the function has something to offer. |

I have mostly USGI and Pmags. I have always meant to try out Lancers, but never got around to it. Glad I didn't get around to it yet, this will the model to try.

Any chance this mag will fit in a AUG Nato or MSAR E4 stock? The original design doesn't because of the rib.

We haven't run them in one yet, they run in H&K416 and SA80 with longer magazine wells, so they might fit.

Regarding other calibers, the L5AWM's internal geometry and non-tilt follower has been maximized to run the 5.56X45, so it will likely not run any other caliber rounds. We've tried 5.45X39 and 6.8 and neither will run in the magazine. We have no plans to make dedicated 5.45 or 6.8 version of the L5AWM.

Yes, the Lower is the Lancer L15 and it's sporting the Competition magazine well extension, we have 2 other size magazine well extensions available for the L15 The side charging upper is an LAR ambi side charging upper sporting a custom 16" barrel with rifle length gas system and compensator build by Wheaton Arms. Can you post a picture of the back of the magazine? I'd like to know if the notch at the back is rounded like a pmag or square like a standard aluminum mag. My SCAR doesn't do the last round hold open consistantly with pmags or lancers. Thanks.

The L5AWM magazines have been extensively tested in the SCAR-L, they lock the bolt back fine. check the video, at the end you will see a SCAR being fired. VIDEO |

We don't have any plans to make new tooling to support those calibers at this time. |

I would assume that it HAS to be competitive with the likes of Magpul and the others out there. When you can get a PMAG now, tested and prove, for under $15, I can't see this one with any improvements being worth more than $20. |

Been using the Lancer (among others) for over 2 1/2 years, every since Greg was kind enough to send me an L5 for T&E. Never had the issues with the green follower that some had, but no matter. The magazines plain work.
If the AWM improves upon the L5 (and the L5A), color me impressed. Good work guys. |

The only problem that I have with my lancer magazines is that if the magazine is inserted into a rifle with the bolt closed, charging the bolt will cause the top round to pop up out of the lips and jam usually above the chamber. As long as I make sure to lock the bolt back before putting the magazine in, then no problems.
Are the new warfighter magazines going to have a longer feed lip to prevent this? |

This is awesome. Cant wait to get my hands on these. I love Magpul, but with all the BS with the Tmag I'm glad to see somebody making quality see through mags.
Do you guys still make the L7 mag? I ordered 2 of them and have been running them ever since...I ordered them the first week they were released. They are excellent mags. I ask bc Im seeing mention of all kinds of other Lancer mags I didnt know about. |

Just don't get the regular L5's with the high rib, as they won't work without grinding the rib down. I have to say that I prefer the L5A's over the PMAGS. They are cheaper (@ Sportsman's Guide) and I like that you can see through them and they have steel feed lips. |

Actually, your current L5 shouldn't have the problem you describe. Please send an email to [email protected] and we'll exchange that magazine for a new one. The L5AWM feed lips are stiffer then the existing L5, providing better retention of the rounds when the magazine is dropped or inserted aggressively into a rifle on an open bolt. |

I am a big supporter of the L5A and have handed out freebies to a few friends. They have found the same reliability and zero feed issues I told them about. Thanks for that. Now, how about a SCAR 17H. 308's have went crazy sales this last year and $42 for a Cprods 25rounder can be beat. If no, I get it with the tooling, but a good price point would pay of with SCAR owners. Thanks WH55.

Can you use a Lula loader? IIRC, the others ones don't work real well with the loader.
That doesn't make a mag bad, it is just real nice if my Lula loader will work, because it is awesome. |
