That’s interesting.
My understanding is their barrels start with Green Mountain blanks, they button rifle them. Then they have them chromed locally and re-inspect themselves. I have one of their M4geries (MPC) and the barrel is a big reason why. |

The problem with Wyndam / old school Bushmaster is they have never gotten the 5.5 flashider right especially now where they can get a good copy purchased by companies that make them.

For some unexplained reason the industry never thought a correct one was needed.
It's been the case since the 80's. The one upside of the commercial style CAR15 barrels is that they usually can take a bayonet.  ETA: the Wyndham 16" pencil barrels are better anyways.

It’s a 10.5 pistol barrel with a 6 inch XM177 style flash hider pinned and welded on. Meh.
If they’re buying these as GM barrel blanks and sticking on 6 inch flash hiders, why not cut them down to a correct 10 inches and lop off the useless bayonet lug with a pass or two? Just seems barely close enough to be worth looking at, but I did return that 10.3 Brownell’s barrel that came with an F-marked FSB for a reason, and that reason being I really damn want a 10 inch barrel for my XM177 build I’ve never completed

Before the 94 AWB they sold a metric ton of Bushy and Olympic ARs with that barrel on them and it was the only type available locally as a complete rifle right before the ban.
I always wondered why, I was told they could make more complete rifles this way from a standard length barrel blank. |

It looks like they took an M4 carbine barrel with .750" front sight base, cut it down to 10.5" or so, and stuck a funky 6.5" extension on it.
Not retro at all, but I'm sure that they'll sell some of them anyway. |
