1964 Colt SP1 AR-15 SN# 1011 on GB currently at $8424.  Wonder how it will go? Looks all correct.

Not affiliated w/ auction.

S/N 323 should be worth $20K, based on that sale.

I have 2095. I'd be happy with anything over $11K!

I think the big confusion on why this gun went for so much is the fact they said 1963 in the title as well as the serial number.

Yes the seller ‘fixed’ it the day before it sold saying it was a typo but then never fixed said typo…..

I’m sure the high bidders assumed serial #11 instead of #1011

I would hope anyone spending that kind of money on an early SP1 would be a little more educated than that.

Then again...

you can not change titles of auctions once they have bids

any mistakes in the title stay.

A 1st year production, serial #100X sold locally two years ago for $3500. I so regret not grabbing it. At the time I was hung up on wanting a 3 digit serial number, that I passed.

Still a wee bit dirty...

Edited to make note:  I wrote notes on this Rifle, nor do I own it, however the description on GB is not of my own, but that of the seller based on the things I pointed out.  It's a damn nice example, and that's all I wanted to point out here on the Retro Forum.

Just as a FYI: The Colt finished at $8,525.  Ho-Lee-Fuk!
