I had a C H marked upper sitting in my closet i got 10+ years ago.. so i figured id put some parts on it.

Not a purist build but will true enough for me.

Bushmaster XM15E2 Lower
Colt C H Marked upper
Phosphate C158 BCG (AIM Emtan milspec Israeli)
Brownells 11.5" A1 Barrel Assembly 1-12
Brownells B5 CAR-15 stock
Brownells A1 PG
Carbine handguards(have a box with a few of em in it somewhere)
TNTE XM177 5.5 on piece flash hider(straight wall) Gonna pin and weld.

Teardrop forward assist will be done at some point as well.

For those wondering the rear sight adjustment barrel is called a Rapidex, the upper came with it.

I got it used so I'm assuming the previous owner put it on.  IIRC it was a DPMS product.  They pop up for sale sometimes for a few bucks.

And yeah PHX east valley area.

Nice build you got going.
Those big button forward assists are cool, but I understand why you are replacing it.

It's odd seeing it that big button on an A1 upper.
You usually only see them on C7 uppers.
Maybe your upper was very early in the A2 transition?

LOL the more I look into this part the more questions I have.

You might be totally right.

imho, it looks like that roll pin was its first and only insert.. no marks from re-doing it.

Rapidex still throws me... i know the person I got it off of probably was not the one to put it on, not his style... so maybe it came with?

I just did a little research and it said the big buttons can hit A2 lowers.. well low and behold this one has a flat back to account for that... and looks like it was made that way.

ETA: Possibly off colt R6401

Very interesting that the button is cut like that, as I believe that was done to clear A2 type lowers.
It seems to have an A2 type port door on it as well.

Yep, the big head forward assist came out at the very end of the A1 lifespan. They modified them to the D shape to fit A2 lowers with the reinforced buffer receiver area. Then realized that was dumb and started making the small head forward assist for A2 production.

Fin!  I am in love with the XM's handiness!!!  sooo light and maneuverable.  It makes my KISS 16" mid feel like a tank.

Brownell's actually sent me a 1-7 twist, which is what I wanted.. they had their stock messed up, they corrected their stock, but I asked to keep it and pay the $5 difference if they wanted me to, have not heard back yet.

Still need to take it out and shoot it, that is next but it cycles very smoothly!

I did add an SKS sling between the top of the stock and front sight post.

Very nice!

That long flash hider looked goofy off the rifle, with the built in grenade ring. It looks perfect on the rifle.

I assembled an A2 upper and bought a Colt 11.5" barrel and it turned out awesome. (got the sight installation tool even)
I used the Brownells replica resonator and stock with a standard old school handguard, I love this rig.

Early shorties (Army versions for biased reasons) are always the coolest to me.

Nice rifle.
