Mike,

I realize you are a very busy man. I just have one question for you. When do you project to have these barrels and stripped upper and lower receivers for sale where we can order them? June or July of this year?

I for one can't wait for the powers to become available. I have some new Capco uppers I bought several years ago from Ohio Ordnance Works that would look good on those!

I realize that this would be down the road, but since PSA has some experience making 1911s, what are the chances that there could be a proper 1911A1 since you know, retro?

Honestly I think they’re close enough that production of one would make production of the other a nonissue.

1911 series is a higher order of complexity like making Garands or a semi M14 clone. All parts except for the grips will be steel that has to be machined and the frame and slide require a number of operations.

Correct, but PSA already makes/made 1911s, so they should be familiar.

Yes they did.  Though I suspect they had them made by a sub-contractor with a variance for marking.

I still have two to finish at some point.

I can deal with DPMS, as long as the C7's are machined correctly, and available with or without M4 feedramps.

I'll just say it. There isn't a reason the DPMS name needs to keep going. Let it die. I don't want a DPMS branded lower/rifle period. I was planning on buying an A2 and would prefer to just have a PSA or H&R branded gun. If they are going to actually be well made correctly, parts are fine. But again why do we need to bring the name back from the dead when there really isn't anything of historical significance, unique, or quality to go back to? Just use the PSA brand.

It is also sort of like the ammo market, companies keep bringing out lines of ammo just to use the ancient brand name that they had acquired years ago but at the end user level it just makes being a consumer more confusing because it becomes difficult to differentiate the products.

While I am on the subject, if you get to retro AR10s, please don't use the "DPMS" receiver standard that is incorrect and never should have existed at all that haunts the AR10 market to this day.

I see I am a latecomer to this news. I have ordered from NoDak Spud quite a bit in the past for AK builds and always appreciated the quality.

I hope it all works out and am excited to see what comes from this.

DPMS Gen 2 is a pretty nice product and hopefully JJE can bring it back - if they got the IP from the bankruptcy.  The DPMS Gen 1 is the industry standard, for good, bad, or indifferent.

Agreed. The only AR-10 I'm interested in is the DPMS G2.

But putting the DPMS name on AKs, as PSA has already been doing, doesn't make any sense to me. DPMS = AR in my mind.

And as far as the DPMS name having no significance, I strongly disagree.

They were the “PSA” of the 90’s. They showed that a small, upstart company could become a force in the gun market.

They made AR15’s affordable to the masses.

I don't mind DPMS branded A2's and such but please do not brand them Panther Arms. In California, DPMS Panther Arms is banned by name and it would be amazing to finally be able to buy a DPMS A2 rifle.

My thoughts on DPMS exactly. One of my old roommates and I used to love running thousands of rounds through DPMS builds with no problems the days of ABC and "the chart" while others would naysay. The thread a year or so ago in which the former employee broke down some of the real behind the scenes stuff from back when proved our point more so.

I would love a new production DPMS A1 upper etc.

Mike,

Just curious, why not separate them by generation since they each were most prevalent in different generations of the M16 platform? H&R for the A1 stuff, DPMS for A2, and PSA for the A4. That could even segue into the possibility of things like KAC/P&S style rails down the line for an M16A4 clone.

Mike,

The samples you just received look really good. What is the next step in the prcess? Do you send out a batch of upper and lowers to be done? Meaning the m16a1 receivers.

I guess the receivers will be up for sale before the barrel assemblies? You are getting closer. Do you at this point have
time line roughly when these will be up for sale on the website?

I hope you give us here in the retro forum a heads up first? Alot of us in here have been waiting for these for a long time.
