I'm wondering if there are any pics showing a 3.5'' moderator on a 605? I have a pencil barrel that has been shortened to 16". I'd like to keep it like that  and am thinking if I took a repro 3.5" moderator and made it a slip over I could give it the proper 605 look and not go NFA. Anything out there?

The 605 used a 3-prong FH, not a moderator. The XM607 had a moderator.

I realize that. I was hoping for a pic showing a moderator being used while in service.

I'm not sure what model you are referring to, but this is my xm177e2 build with 16" barrel and slip over moderator. The barrel extends to just before the ports. May give you some idea?

There are only a couple of pics of real 605's being used in the wild, and I've never seen one with anything but a 3 prong. That being said, I think it would look cool with a short moderator and yours could be the first replica like that. You might have to have one custom made that will flush up against the FSB. The few slipovers available require 5-6" of barrel. Your's has about 4" in front of the FSB right?

Why not pin on a 3 prong?  It gets you to the required length and looks perfect.  JT did one for me.

Barrel is cut at 16" so an inch longer than a stock 605. I have a 3 prong on it right now but it's obvious that it should be shorter. I was hoping not to have to shorten it any more.

That is a 603 with a 20" barrel not a 605. It has a HEL E4 reflex suppressor mounted.

If you want a proper 605 that 16" barrel is going to have to be cut to 15". No way around it. Pin the FH and you'll be legal. Or, leave it at 16" and put round hand guards on it for a A2 Dissipator look.
