It looks like they got most of the details correct, pretty nice! Is that a gray "spray-on" finish applied over black anodizing?

Hard to say about the gray color - I might need to look at it closer in the sunlight. The walls of the FCG housing are black but the magwell interior is gray. It might be that the black is the coated part. There is no indication of overspray nor wear due to scrapes/abrasion that might indicate a gray coating.

Looks good I cancelled mine when they told me the Troy logo was going on the mag well.{ I ordered wanting it without}...Took the money and bought a 65 date SP-1, Happy now but would have liked the Troy the way I wanted. Hey congrats and enjoy it. Better than bucks in the bank now.

Very nice, especially for an "off the rack" retro.
To my eyes, it looks to be sprayed with Norrell's over black anodizing (you can see some overspray in the magwell and some black is showing through where the port door pad is hitting the lower). |

Looks pretty good if you can get over who manufactured it.
Notable issues: - Machining on the front of the receiver looks sloppy. - Should have left the roll mark logo off of the magwell, and moved the manufactures info to the front. - Should have been anodized. - No sear block. |

Here are some descrepencies.
Large hole in carrier and wrong ejection port door. Also slots on moderator are not accurate.

Agreed on all points. I especially wish they left their logo off of it - totally unnecessary if you're putting a replica out there. The initial marketing for the rifle showed it without the logo. I can only imagine some executive along the way stepped in and overturned the few passionate retro-heads who were championing the project. I was also originally disappointed with the delta slip ring but then more research suggests that the delta is correct. |

One of the first fifty would have been mine.{but with logo on} it was a no go for me . A decent rifle for the price.it was Karma because like I said after I cancelled the ORDER The SP-1 1965 model came up for sale.Sure not that model. but for me now the SP-1 will keep me happy. Let the crew know how it shoots. Since its not keep sealed forever category. I like the Manual and goody package. enjoy and have fun.And thanks for the post and info.

Well since they have released the XM177E2 model with F/A/ and no logo mag well. I had to order one, It will fill the Retro space that has been empty for almost 30 year's.Glad the original poster liked his and posted all the pic's.I am sure they did get a few more sales out of it but most important the donation's to a good cause.

I understand the manufacture thing and all marking and who made it.
But heck they can stamp it some other way no so easy to spot space and be done with it. like some companies with some big import stamp on items.Yet others mark a small stamp and places you can not find quickly. I am glad the mag well is marked the way it is on the Troy XM177E2 They took the hint from someone, And this is going to be a light shooter for me so the 1200 is not a issue. And I plan on buying the Colt when they arrive with those also. I had two originals back in the day and miss them greatly. And looking back and selling them at the time for 4000 buck's.was okay, but in todays market a Mortal sin! Well over 30 years ago there was not many collectors besides REED Myself, Burt, Bob Miller, Vollmer and a few others looking for them. At the time it was letters and phone calls and gun shows to locate.and 98% of the makers importers and dealer's had not even been around. back in 1965 to 1975> 1945 was retro.. |

Hey,are the pics of sling installation correct? If so any idea how long the para cord needs to be on FSB end to be able to feed buttstock through? Doing E2 build I have read Va-gunnut Doc mike post on information link. Just trying to get all info I can. And buy the way...would an E2 have forging flash removed on FSB and would there be a hole under front sight post? cannot seem to nail that down
