Two of our retro brethren recently divided up 9 NIW Colt 20 round magazines between themselves and sent me photos to post. As you can see, they were shipped five per box from Colt. The original owner of Colt SP1 Ser. # 000,53X ordered 10 spare magazines with his new rifle back in the fall of 1964. They were back ordered. And then shipped out on Jan.,22, 1965. He kept one for his rifle and just sold these nine recently.
Seven of the nine are still taped and sealed.
# 8 had the paper tape split but unwrapped and # 9 was already unwrapped. Both had a white foil type sticker,  # 8 has the "circle 1" and # 9 has just a circle . Both have the 5 round block in them.
Sorry, I won't be able to answer any questions. This is  all the info I have to share with you.

Just thought you'd like to take a peek.

Aweosme, thanks for sharing!

That helps narrow down a timeline on the circle 1 mags, I have one without the 1 in the circle too.

Is that just a white sticker on the side of the mag?

Yes, just a white sticker. As you can see it was originally covering up the  "circle 1"

i remember when those were listed.  couldn't justify the asking price but i'm glad it found a good home with some fellow retroheads.

$0.40 postage?!

That would cost $15 to ship today

wonder if the timeline yellow label corresponds with my yellow boxed scope.  i've seen a few red boxed scopes but not many yellow boxes ones.

I wonder if they were back logged in late 64 because of the build-up in VN.

I guess there are still treasures to be found out there.

That's pretty cool, wish I could find something that cool. Best I've found was a 1960 dated Springfield M14 magazine in a weapons connex in Afghanistan. Brought it home and gave it to a friend who helped me alot in my surplus rifle days
