Well the pic is of the wrong side but I would say initially an SP1 carbine with a chopped  A2 fromt half hung on it.

Colt factory SP1 carbine lower--original staking and touch up grey paint on lock-ring & back plate.  Possibly original SP1 upper that came with the lower because color matches really well.  Since Colt never made a dissipator barrel, it's a chopped down 20" barrel.  Stripped lower alone is at least $600 in banned states.  Vinyl acetate stock assembly at least another $350 bucks.  Like previous poster said, worth a lot more if parted out.  But if the price is right, it's worth it to find a 16" 1x12 twist barrel and return that carbine back to its original specs.

OP, did you buy it?

How much is/was the asking price?

If they are asking a reasonable price, and it's still available, I'd say get it, and restore it back to the Early SP1 Carbine that it was.

I didn't. It's at a local pawn shop. They are asking $1400.

Good luck if you're going for it.

It appears to have an original Colt SP1 lower assembly and SP1 upper receiver with a correct BCG, it would say it would be worth about $700. The barrel assembly does not belong on this. It is a shame that someone did this to a SP1. In original and really good condition, it could be worth the $1400, but not as it sits.

Is it me, or are all Pawn Shops currently thinking they're Pawn Stars and wanting way too much for their inventory?

Case in point, I was in local store recently and they had a beater Colt 1911 that they wanted $1200 for.

I'd offer a thousand, see what happens....tell them there's way too many ARs out there for 600 - 800 range. If they don't go with that, tell them about the chopped barrel and that thus devalues the gun significantly.  Its worth a try.

Go to AR15sport for a barrel set up.
